I was originally waiting for Arvin to make a post on this, since I thought he may have wanted to (then again, not sure how much time he's been having), so since not, I guess I'll intro myself.

I'm contributing where I can, and one of the ways is moderating the boards. If you have any ideas on new sections, or need to talk to someone about an issue on the forums, please feel free to private message me here and I'll get around to working on it.

As for points. Yes, we have noticed that you were able to get a point just for opening a topic. Which, certainly isn't fair. Especially when the topic has nothing to do with the Wii, this website, or anything relevant. So, in lieu of this, I'll be watching to see what deserves point(s). No, suddenly trying to be super nice to me won't get you points. ^.~

What you can get points for, however, is contributions. Opening a very good topic, posting good information (not just as a topic starter, but in the thread), reviews, etc. Make sure content you post is your own, and if not, give credit where it's due (you may still get a point or a few for it).

I may be trimming down some of the older topics to weed them out, if need be, just for a head's up. Don't worry, though. If it's a whole thread, I'll whisper the poster before taking it down, so no hurt feelings are there.

Remember, games are meant to have fun! This is what we're all about!

Thanks bleu.

Seriously, don't worry, I will ask before deleting an entire thread, so please calm down. ;)

Most of the posts that will get deleted (posts, not threads), are ones that might gum up (so to speak) the importance of a topic. I'm not doing this to be a pain in the neck, either, I'll definetly leave things have even have humor (even if they aren't that related).

As for points - currently you don't get points for replying in a topic. But, you will, when I look and see what's been posted - and if it's something you deserve points for, you most assuredly will get it! We really want those people who are trying to contribute, and doing what they can, to get rewarded.

I haven't really tried to get points, it's not that big of a deal to me, but once I see the merchandise I might get into it more!! I do think points are distributed to freely & I'm glad you're changing that!!! & yeah, I do see your point about monitoring the forums!! What kind of stuff don't you want to see??
I had something else I wanted to say but I forget!!
EDIT:
Oh yeah, I do think we should be careful about getting off subject (I have plenty of times) but I don't think you should be to big of a nazi (so to speak) Because if you are then you're going to have so many new forums to cover those sidetracks!!! If someone does get off subject you should just bring the topic back (thanks YelinYellow in "Lego Indian Jones" I think I kinda started that sidetrack!!!)

Is it possible to have some kind of side note thing in the forum!! I don't know, just an idea (I don't even know if it matters!!)

well if you just go around and reward points for good posts then eventually when the site gets huge and chaotic then arvin and ben will need to elect more moderators to do that too and keep the site in tact

plus i think moderators should get a little symbol under their name kinda like the 100 post one

Theirs are actually "administrator" badges, but I think he was talking about Alanna having one. I think administrator is the same as moderator, anyways though.

We need (on the site) a text user submited content thing where we can post news and other things without needing to create a forum topic or needing to post a pic with it.

Clever!!! something that you can post vids without going through YouTube!!! (I don't have a YouTube account.....Yet!!) But I don't know how far that would go??? It would cover the sidetracks though!!

Oooo, BIG idea!!!! Maybe something on our profiles like a permanent forum, then we can maybe ask someone something (without sending a privet message) & get more answers from other people without starting an unnecessary forum, do you know what I mean? & we would be able to delete comments that are on our profiles, just so we don't have hundreds of posts on our personal forums!!! (I don't know if I'm making my point clear?) There is so much more we could do with a feature like that!!! It would make going to other peoples profiles more interactive & helpful!!!!

Did that make any sense???

I think its a good idea!!!!
How about you?

well I am just saying that some of us older members should be the moderators. I am just saying because we have been here longer and we might know some things that other people that are new need to know before they get into trouble. Just Suggesting.

Yeah that makes perfect sense, if you've been here longer then of corse you know what's going on!! I don't think just anyone should be moderator that would be dumb!!! Just because you're "newer" though doesn't mean you aren't capable of handling that job!! But you are right, someone who is newer probably isn't "qualified"(so to speak) to be left in charge of that!! (I have no intensions of being one of those moderator things!! & I hope you didn't think that's what I meant in my last post!!)

i agree and if we do there should be rules to be able to be elected as moderator

like:
1. certain # of posts
2. very active
3. a lot of people know you
4. someone could nominate you
5. ben and/or arvin have to say you can be

and also new members should be assigned a moderator to like help em' around and stuff

I dont think that would really work, as if lots of users started uploading video files, it would slowly add up and Arvin would be out of server space and Bandwidth........

That's why I said "I don't know how far that would go!!!" I know it's easer for Arvin to just go through YouTube!!

But I do think my other idea would be GREAT!!!!!

I'll reply more in depth when I'm slightly more coherent, since I'm currently suffering lack of sleep and will for a bit.

I was away on a business trip to Brantford, so I've been fairly quiet on my end for some days. I intend to get to work shortly, with some things that need to be looked at and accomplished.

As for an icon, we'll see if we can pester Arvin into giving me something. He needs a nudge every so often. ^.~

Also, I'm wondering if a small few of you seem sore I'm a moderator? I'm hoping Ben/Arvin will be speaking up soon. However, I've been trying to be a part of this even before it existed. I just hadn't posted around here until I finally got my Wii, as it seemed a little odd to be very active about something I didn't yet have. I've been moderator, or admin in many sites before (as well as guild leader, yada yada). I tend to watch things impartially when I need to make a decision, on forums, etc. I'd also like to think I have maturity, and reflect my age (without being too old.. I'm a Toys R Us Kid? Hah.)

I am happy there is an active moderator!! This site at times lacks organization on the boards and needs a little babysitting. Thanks for keeping the boards in order.

I do believe that this site needs moderators.

This site has become disorganized (putting it nicely) with all of the current content and forums. So someone to do a little housecleaning every once in a while is nice to have. And as this site grows bigger, there is just gonna be more disorganization, so the cap for moderators is gonna soar. I also can say I haven't seen or heard from Ben in a while, so it seems as if there is need for someone to help out when they aren't around (which seems to be most of the time). And Supersonic's theory of promotion (there are better words I can't thing of at the moment) to moderator, and his guidelines are good.

"i agree and if we do there should be rules to be able to be elected as moderator

like:
1. certain # of posts
2. very active
3. a lot of people know you
4. someone could nominate you
5. ben and/or arvin have to say you can be

and also new members should be assigned a moderator to like help em' around and stuff"

This could use a little tweaking. I've been exposed to moderators before, and have seen how they run things. I've seen live chat moderators and forums moderators and how some have become moderators. I know how moderators work, so, I'm gonna tweak his rules a bit.

1) To become a moderator, you should either have a certain amount of posts or quality posts as well as relevant understanding as to what's important to the site.
2) You must be nominated by other members. Askin on behalf of one's self only proves your lack of maturity and misunderstanding of the importance of the job (except in Alanna's case).
3) You must be active (that's a given)
4) Ben and Arvin pretty much control everything that goes around on the site, so, when a person is in a position to become a moderator (I want to say nominee, but technically Alanna is appointing herself), their profile must be viewed as well as their posts to see if this candidate (a better choice of words) would make a good moderator.
5) You should probably have some sort of application with information on previous moderating jobs if you believe you should become a moderator when you are a candidate. If you moderated on other sites and are not discovered as a candidate, you could mention it to someone who as some say.
DISCLAIMER: Most of these rules don't apply to Alanna at this point in time, so I would have to thing these would be for finding future mods (moderator abbreviation).

And as to Supersonic's mentioning of helping new users, that isn't exactly part of the job of a mod. Ben or Arvin should just create a page on a Beginner's Guide to WLTP and a link should be available immediately after sign-up.

And on a side note, does WLTP have a Wikipedia yet? It could use one.

Cheers :)

To the thoughts on me appointing myself.

False.

Ben actually suggested I moderate, and so we spoke to Arvin, who agreed.

Reason being, is I'm aiding in any aspects I can with WLTP, not just the boards. The boards is something I'm more than qualified for, and simply something that needed to be done.

And to Scott, thank you. It's nice to be appreciated. :)

Whoa DODO_JZ you wrote like the Declaration of Independence there. I think the Qualifications to be a moderator should be short and sweet no complications

Ok, so I think that this has gotten way out of control, turning into a topic about users becoming a moderator. Someone should start a topic... Well, I was wondering if it would be possible to have a rule that when someone stays inactive for a certain period of time, such as 6 months, then their profile should be deleted. I looked at the user list, and it has lots of inactive people...

To yelinyellow, I was trying to make it sound professional, there are just big words that I used, it's not that complicated to understand.

To Alanna, that delusion was only there because nobody has seen Ben or Arvin confirm it, but I figured as much.

And about the qualifications being short and sweet, it is a forum, so I guess I elaborated them too much based on the amount of users. I'm really looking into the future here. I've been a member of this site since April 07 when I first recieved my Wii, so I've seen how fast it can grow over a year. When the site picks up and there is just too much craziness going on and nobody knows who should be a moderator, those rules will help narrow it down for the perfect mods to come into play.

And on a side now, I haven't seen James on the site at all.

Cheers :)

ok, this is too complicated. I think Arvin/Ben should appoint any mods they want, and they should tell their appointed mod the guidelines. If the guidelines are broken, they lose their position. It should be that easy, but y'all are making it harder than it is.
