Rumor: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days invades Europe this fall [update]

Update: We've confirmed with both the North American and European branches of Square Enix that this is in fact true, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is on track for an autumn release. Huzzah!Siliconera reports that the English version of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will arrive in Europe later this year, though it should be noted there isn't any official source on the matter. We trust those guys, but, without a source, this has to be treated as a rumor.Right now, the current release date for North America is whenever, though it's a safe bet to assume the game will be here within the same timeframe as Europe (sometime between September and November), as Square Enix is notorious for releasing its games only days apart in the European and North American regions. Of course, that would only happen if this rumor pans out, and we've contacted Square Enix to clarify and we'll be sure to update you as soon as we have official word.Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will release in Japan on Sunday, May 30.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Dead Space Extraction severing limbs September 29

Electronic Arts has narrowed its previously announced fall release window for Dead Space Extraction. Adventurers overseas have a bit more waiting to do, with the game expected to ship in Europe on October 2.Extraction promises a number of new features over the original Dead Space, including co-op gameplay as well as new weapons and enemies. We were left impressed following our recent time with the upcoming "guided first-person shooter experience," and assuming our limbs can take all that twisting we look forward to turning back the alien scourge this fall.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Natsume announces new cheery, squishy games

Natsume's E3 lineup features mostly what you would expect from Natsume (Harvest Moon and lots of it, plus the previously announced Afrika on PS3), but the company revealed a few unannounced games, some of which are even surprising. The WiiWare Harvest Moon game, Harvest Moon Ranch Store, is being localized as Harvest Moon: My Little Shop, which is pretty adorable. The company has also announced a new cheerleading game called Cheer We Go for the DS, as well as Squishy Tank, a puzzle game about little animate tanks. If it looks familiar to you, you were probably a really attentive DS Fanboy reader: it's a localized version of Yawaraka Sensha, a licensed puzzle game released last year in Japan by Success.

TV's The Biggest Loser coming to Wii and DS this fall

THQ is getting involved in the fitness craze on Nintendo consoles with The Biggest Loser, a game based on the hit TV show. Starring the show's Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels (Jillian competing against .... Jillian?), as well as the host of the show, Alison Sweeney, the game will do pretty much what the show does: dispense health tips and workout programs to help you diet and exercise your way to a slimmer, healthier you. Players will be able to "compete in 4, 8 or 12 week programs against former contestants from the television show," and the game even allows players to "receive credit for any progress made while not playing the video game, such as going for a walk or a bike ride." The choice of the honor system here leaves the door open for all manner of dubious exercising. Can you "beat" the game without shedding a pound? Now there's a challenge. The two different versions will interact with each other, allowing DS players to take their trainers from the Wii game with them to the grocery store to count calories and choose sensible meals. The Wii version of the game also supports the Balance Board, which is pretty much a requirement of any fitness game on the Wii, and will allow players to perform weigh-ins at regular intervals, and choose from a variety of different exercise options. You can see if you're The Biggest Loser when the game releases this fall.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Marvel Super Hero Squad unveiled; Doctor Doom never looked so adorable

THQ has revealed details of its upcoming kid-friendly game set in the Marvel Universe. Marvel Super Hero Squad will be available this fall on Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP and is the "first game" based on The Super Hero Squad Show, which will debut around the same time on Cartoon Network. It's also completely adorable, as you can tell from the video and gallery below.THQ promises "episodic adventures, multiplayer battle modes and interactive combat arenas," though no more details are revealed. Sure, the game may be targeted towards kids, but there's something about little chibi versions of our favorite Marvel heroes and villains running around that just pulls at our heartstrings.

First footage of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter on Wii and DS

One thing is abundantly clear from watching the trailers for both versions of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (after the break): They are not the same game. It's even more clear from reading IGN's interviews, because, you know, they're with different people. The DS version is being made by original developer 5TH Cell, while the Wii game is being handled by Planet Moon Studios. Both games now feature "action drawing" that allows the player to draw directly in the game world rather than in an editor. Planet Moon describes expanded drawing options in this mode, like certain types of ink imbued with gravity or bounce -- like an anvil that you could draw, which would then fall straight down. 5TH Cell's drawing enhancements (at least the ones mentioned in the interview) include the ability to customize character designs even more, with up to four arms and four legs, and resizable limbs. The games have different stories, as well -- the DS game (whose story is told in a "redone overworld" with, like the rest of the game, animation by Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight animator Paul Robertson and art contributions from Braid's David Hellman) follows the events of the Wii game (whose story is told in a new side-scrolling hub world).

Nabi filling fighting hole on Wii with Toribash

With its deep gameplay and sexy simplicity, Nabi Studio's Toribash could have gone to any platform. But it's going to WiiWare ... because that's where it's needed. Creator Hampus Soderstrom told Eurogamer "I always just liked the platform better and thought it would suit Toribash much better. And also Wii didn't have any [fighting games]. OK it has Smash Bros. [Brawl], but fighting titles are really lacking on Wii," he said. Call us overly sappy if you like, but it's enough to make you tear up a bit, isn't it?Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
