Nintendo Power scan seems to confirm 'Rabbids Go Home'

After raving for nearly three years, who can blame Ubisoft's spastic rabbids for wanting something more substantial? That something, as it turns out, is likely a new action adventure game for the Wii, familiarly titled Rabbids Go Home. Apparently revealed in May's Nintendo Power, the game reportedly sets a pair of the player-controlled bunny-things on a quest to return home -- and by home we mean the Moon -- by building a giant tower out of junk. GoNintendo has a single scan, as well as a handful of details, though following three releases and more minigames than we care to count, we half expect the trip into space be just another excuse to party.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Schafer hesitates regarding Brutal Legend Wii rumor

Brütal Legend may officially be for Xbox 360 and PS3, but a recent conversation with 1UP may make hopeful metal action heroes rockin' a Wii take pause. The site confronted Double Fine honcho Tim Schafer about a pulled article by GoNintendo that the title was coming to Wii. Schafer's reaction was certainly interesting, as he asked his handler how to respond to the question, and simply stated, "We are making an Xbox 360 and PS3 version of Brütal Legend."Indulging pure speculation, it's very possible that Schafer is telling the truth and the in-house version of Brütal Legend is not being made for Wii. We've seen it countless times at this point that many studios develop for Xbox 360 and PS3, leaving the Wii work to an outside entity. That doesn't mean Brütal Legend for Wii is confirmed, but hesitation (and checking with the handler) is typically a sign that there's something more to the story.

Explodemon! blows up on WiiWare, PSN in 2009

It's generally best to keep your character from exploding in most games. That's not the case in the latest effort from Curve Studios, developers of Buzz! Master Quiz for PSP. Explodemon! (we're guessing from the logo it's "explode" plus "demon," not "Explodémon") is described as "a loving homage to SNES-era Japanese action games," in which your Mega Man-esque character must explode to survive. Paradoxical much?Judging by the trailer's content -- which, by the way, appears to be of the PS3 version -- the side-scrolling game takes its central mechanic quite seriously. Explodemon explodes to double jump, dash, attack and knock objects into enemies. The game, set for 2009 release on WiiWare, PSN and PC, seems like a potentially sweet, retro-inspired treat. Hopefully it doesn't bomb.[Via GamerBytes]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

April ... Fools? Wii Qube and Wii Relax may be real

Last week, information started showing up online about Wii Qube and Wii Relax from a company in Italy called Pub Company. We declined to post about them, since a game in which you stick the Wiimote in a big cube and a game that uses a headset to measure your relaxation level seemed like obvious, annoying jokes, especially given their proximity to, uh, today. Pub Company sent out a press release today assuring us it isn't an April Fools Day windup. Qube is apparently a Tetris-inspired falling-blocks puzzle game controlled by moving a big cube around. Wii Relax is a series of two games, Relax Mind and Relax Body: "'Mind" will teach you to relax your mental state whilst 'Body' will help you to relax your body and alleviate stress. Forget about Yoga lessons and expensive massages: you'll be able to have a real Zen experience in your own living room."We're still not sure if this stuff is real.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nintendo Power reveals Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for Wii

We're not exactly sure if titling the "reimagining" of a classic game "Shattered Memories" is going to instill much hope in its fans, but that's what Konami is doing with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for Wii. The not-a-remake of the first game in the series is revealed in the May 2009 issue of Nintendo Power, which contains a 10-page cover feature on the Climax (Silent Hill: Origins) developed game. (Oh, and it's not an April Fools joke -- we confirmed this news with the magazine.)GoNintendo has scanned parts of said article and provides some details, such as the Wii Remote's use in interacting directly with environment-based puzzles. Subscribers to the magazine are beginning to get the issue now, and Nintendo Power tells us to expect an update related to the game next week.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nintendo reveals early DSi Shop titles

With the release of the Nintendo DSi mere days away, we imagine many folks have chewed their fingernails right to the bone. Here at the office, we're mostly concerned with the DSi Shop and how we're going to spend those free 1,000 Points. Thanks to Eurogamer, we know of at least three new games that will be available in Europe and (hopefully) North America, adding to the games we already know about. The first title is from the Art Style series of games, called Art Style: Code. The game released in Japan under Art Style: DECODE and is a puzzle game that tasks players with correctly organizing a series of numbers. Next is Pyoro (Bird and Bean), a game where you catch fruit falling from a tree with Pyoro's long tongue. The other new game is Paper Plane, where players must successfully guide a paper airplane through a series of mazes. Sadly, a price or US release date has not been mentioned for any of these titles, but the fact that they're leaving Japan is a very good sign for the future of DSiWare in the US.

April Fools: Wii Fit Balance Board gag

As if convincing more people to buy Wii Fit than Halo 3 wasn't a big enough gag already, it looks like Nintendo's Balance Board has yet another yuk up its sleeve. If it had sleeves, anyway. Those who fire up Wii Fit today will be greeted with the April Fools' Day joke featured in the video above."Joke" might be too strong a word, actually. It's not really ha-ha funny so much as it's "Mom-would-like-this" funny. Of course, given Wii Fit's demographic, that might be the point ...Permalink | Email this | Comments

Reggie: No plans to reveal DSi-enhanced software until after launch

NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime spoke with MTV Multiplayer about the DSi and the GDC announcement of DSi-exclusive and DSi-enhanced software. Though Nintendo isn't making specific announcements about hybrid games until after the system is in stores -- "It would be reasonable to talk about that after we've launched" -- Reggie believes that the majority of DS software will either not take advantage of the DSi's features or be hybrid. "Why? One hundred-million installed base of DS. Developers are going to want to leverage that installed base and yet they'll want to provide extra content via the features of the DSi, like the camera. That's my expectation as to how it will play out."Reggie also offered impressions of his hands-on time with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, providing a slight gameplay detail: "You do more in tracking and outlining. We showed it in the trailer. You move [an extra] character to a spot in order to unlock puzzles. I really like that." He responded only "Wouldn't that be nice?" when asked if Spirit Tracks would be DSi-enhanced.

Goodness gracious! Tales of Graces announced for Wii

Two Tales announcements not enough for you? Good, because Namco Bandai has one more ace up its sleeve. The next "real" Tales game has a home, and it's Nintendo Wii. Tales of Graces doesn't stray far from previous Tales games, with its cel-shaded environments and real-time action RPG battle sytem. According to Kombo, the theme of this new adventure is "protecting people." Guess this isn't the M-rated anti-hero Tales game we've all been waiting for.The game is currently planned for Winter release in Japan. Considering this is a main entry in the series, we're confident Namco Bandai will also announce plans for a US release. Watch an early teaser after the break.
