So yeah, my wii is now getting all these disc read error messages. I'll be playing a game (any game) and while I'm playing it it will stop and a thing will come up saying "disc read error, please take out disc and blah blah blah". I've called nintendo and I'm having to send it in. I'm gonna send it in before the weeked.
I'm just wondering, has anybody gotten their wii back from nintendo with the memory intact?
Mine did the same thing. I had to send it in twice before they fixed right. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. The memory is intact when you get it back too, unless they have to switch it out with a new Wii.
That happened to me too. LIke everyone else, it came back just fine. They even replaced all the plastic casing on the system. You should still back up you game saves.

mine was having trouble reading the discs when we first got ours (not the same as yours, but it's similar). we sent it in to nintendo, and it came back with the memory and everything. i backed it up onto an sd card anyway, just in case...
LOL what did you do shove something in the disk drive?
Use some toothpaste or get like cotton ball dip it in rubbing alchlhol (NOT WATER) and then wipe the disks off
make sure theres at least 2 inches of space from the back of the wii to any object if u have it on a wall or near another object and make sure to keep the area free of dust that might help

@Camper, this kind of thing happens to Wii's all the time. I think Nintendo should have used a disc tray like the 360, not a slot. It would probably not happen again.

this happend with my cube and my psp (the psp was used so i just returned it to gamestop) yeah it should be fine and if not they have to fix it again

I'll just say that a few years back I sent in my gamecube to Big N for same reasons and it came back in mint condish. Like they had just give me a new one!
