Keep your JoySound to yourself with new microphone peripheral

Karaoke JoySound Wii allows Japanese Wii owners to bring the karaoke experience home, with a full music subscription service. The only problem with bringing that experience home is that Japanese apartments tend to be tiny and thin-walled.Japan Trust Technology has solved that issue for late-night crooners with the Mute Mic USB. This specially-designed microphone includes a plastic cup that fits over players' mouths, muting the atonal, drunken screeches that would normally issue forth throughout the apartment building. As an added "bonus," it looks unidentifiably disgusting both in use and on its own, like some kind of medical device you wouldn't want to have to explain.[Via GAME Watch]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nintendo of Europe stealth-announces Another Code R, Space Invaders Extreme Remix, dates Q2 titles

Nintendo of Europe released a massive list of Q2 releases for DS and Wii today. Of special interest on the Wii: New Play Control! Pikmin 2 is coming April 24, followed by Punch-Out!! in May and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat in June. Also of interest: as Kotaku points out, the MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort are nowhere to be seen, just like in the North American schedule. But what's different from the North American schedule is the inclusion of Another Code R, Cing's Wii sequel to the DS adventure game Trace Memory/Another Code. The cel-shaded adventure game, previously rumored for European release, is now scheduled to hit stores in June.On the DS side, the biggest news is Square Enix's Space Invaders Extreme Remix on June 5. This is most likely Space Invaders Extreme 2, which has yet to be officially announced for anywhere other than Japan! Walk With Me has also been delayed to June. June is going to be crazy!Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Choose your platform to jump to a specific release list:Last updated: Thursday, 3:10 pm

(Note: All platform release lists are posted after the break; use "Continued" button below.)

It may not pack the big-screen value of its immediate predecessor (GTA IV was just like a grownups' movie, after all), but the latest Grand Theft Auto, Chinatown Wars, is portable and destined to be the talk of the streets playground. Resistance: Retribution, though, is a strong challenger for the majority mindshare in a week that is dominated by M-rated handheld releases. And, with the warming weather, we may actually venture outside -- as long as our batteries are charged.

How Night Game got to WiiWare

The silhouette-style puzzle platformer Night Game represents the first WiiWare release from Knytt creator Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren. Nifflas and Tyrone Rodriguez from developer Nicalis spoke with Gamasutra (specifically, Joystiq alum Eric Caoili!) about the new game and about its home on WiiWare.Surprisingly, Night Game, which still isn't its final title, wasn't intended for WiiWare at first. Rodriguez made the call to put Night Game on WiiWare early in development. Nifflas told Gamasutra that "I've always wanted there to be a PC build of (Night Game), since many of my fans have been waiting for this game. I however respect Tyrone's decision here." Adapting the game concept to the Wii Remote led to a change in control mapping that "would have been an advantage even on a PC version. "It was GoNintendo's RawMeatCowboy, according to Nifflas, who put him in contact with Nicalis, and therefore indirectly led to Night Game becoming a WiiWare title.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Platinum Games' well received MadWorld has been abusing and roughing up the Wii for few days and SEGA decided its the opportune time to give game advice.
