Rating suggests that Bubble Bobble Wii will journey out of Japan

We knew if we believed hard enough (and probably also if we didn't), Square Enix would bring Bubble Bobble Wii to the world. Now it is the beginning of a fantastic story! The first evidence of SE's plans to release the WiiWare game outside Japan has appeared in the form of a rating on the German USK database. The game, which we had no idea used 3D character models until just now, is listed under the new title Bubble Bobble Plus!, with that very appropriate exclamation point. Of course, this rating is no guarantee that the game will be released in Germany, nor is a German release firm confirmation of a release anywhere else, but it certainly seems likely! Besides, those "world rankings" work a lot better if the "world" isn't limited only to the area within Japan.[Via Siliconera; screens via Inside-Games]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Jane Jensen's Gray Matter may puzzle Wii owners

Jane Jensen's Gabriel Knight games were rare commodities: mid-'90s FMV-based games that weren't amazingly terrible (okay, so just the second one was FMV-based). While Vivendi has the rights to that series, Jensen has been working on a new adventure game, Gray Matter, for a few years. Gray Matter is the story of a neurobiologist and his assistant, who must investigate both his reappearing dead wife and his history of creepy experiments. And also solve puzzles, obviously. In a retrospective Gabriel Knight interview with Edge, Jensen said that Wii fans may have reason to watch the constant delays of the point-and-click adventure game: "There are plans for a Wii port of Gray Matter, and I hope it happens." The website currently says it's "coming soon 2009", so, barring further delays, we can expect to hear more about this purported Wii version ... sometime this year.[Via Cubed3]

MadWorld mows down North America on March 10

A Sega America representative has confirmed that MadWorld is ready to begin its reign of bloody action on March 10th on the Wii in North America. Oddly enough, the title still does not have an anticipated M-rating from the ESRB, despite having already passed both Austrailian and British rating boards.Publisher Sega has been working with the review boards to eliminate possible delays to MadWorld's release -- now that the publisher has picked an official release date, it might be good if the ESRB gave an "all clear."

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: My DoItAll

Tomy's My DoItAll may not be the most anticipated title on the DS, but it's kind of perfect for the Nintendo Channel's DS demo service. We're totally curious about the kid-friendly personal organizer "game" and its suite of activities, but not "pay money" curious. Now we can check it out for free, with no risk other than the possibility that we'll find it awesome and be forced to hide our enjoyment of a children's non-game from our Joystiq colleagues. That's the only new demo on the North American Nintendo Channel this week. If you missed the Big Bang Mini demo, it's back now, and we don't mind broadcasting to the world that it's worth checking out. The full list of available demos and new videos is after the break!

Nintendo replaces Wii melted in house fire

Nintendo's customer service has a reputation for going above and beyond to satisfy the needs of once-distraught fans. This may be because only the stories of NIntendo awesomeness proliferate online (Not a headline: "Nintendo says it can't do anything for broken DS"), but this stuff makes us so happy that we'd rather not go all cynical. For now.GoNintendo reader PsyduckWarrior's house caught fire, destroying (among other things, of course) his entire video game collection, including almost every Nintendo system and "more than 250 Nintendo games spanning all their consoles". Later, he sent Nintendo a fairly simple inquiry about transferring his account to a new Wii, including pictures demonstrating the circumstances through which he came to require a new Wii.Nintendo responded by offering to send him a new Wii, along with a replacement for his Game Boy Advance SP. It may not be a replacement for his whole game collection, but it is a super-classy move from a company that could have just classified PsyduckWarrior's plight as, "Not our problem."Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
