NintendoWare Weekly: NEVES Plus brings Art Style to SimEarth

This week's star of the show is undoubtedly WiiWare, which receives the very rare "three-title-update." Playing second and third fiddle are DSiWare and the Virtual Console, which both get the usual one new title. So, without further ado, let's check out what's available to download this week across Nintendo platforms in the latest NintendoWare Weekly.

Wii Sports Resort: Video clip marathon

Wii Sports Resort has a lot more content than its predecessor. For example, the aerobatics portion doesn't just include the skydiving segment that begins the game -- you can also fly the plane. Similarly, there are multiple aquatic vehicles you can operate -- canoes, wakeboards, and a few different jet-ski-based activities. Each of the twelve base sports contains a few gameplay variations. After the break, you can see the airplane game and more for yourself, in a series of nine gameplay videos captured by GameVideos. We're glad you'll finally be able to see the surprisingly strenuous canoeing portion in action.

Tony Hawk Ride board to be used for 'many games'

Joshua Tsui, president of Tony Hawk Ride developer Robomodo, told Videogamer.com that gamers concerned about blowing a bunch of money on the package should see it as an investment in a new platform, because the skateboard peripheral that comes with Ride won't be a single-use device. "It's really important to us that when people buy this package that they understand that, right now we're concentrating on Tony Hawk Ride, but we want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned for this peripheral," Tsui said. Discussing potential followup games to use the board, Tsui said, "The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we're really excited to start working on those."Of course, the real followup games will be called Tony Hawk's Ride 2, Tony Hawk's Ride 3, and Tony Hawk's Ride 4, and each one will have an optional bundle that includes a new board with just enough upgrades to tempt people into repeat purchases. Because, you know, Activision.

Black Wii, blue controllers on display at World Hobby Fair

During this weekend's World Hobby Fair, both Capcom and Nintendo had booths set up, showing off the new Wii colors and accessories. Capcom's booth had the Monster Hunter 3 bundles as part of its Monster Hunter display, and Nintendo had the blue Wiimote and Nunchuk, of course, to promote Wii Sports Resort -- which, incidentally, was also the inspiration behind a very nice set of giveaway items. The Nunchuk has always been shiny on top and matte on bottom, but it's much more noticeable, and nice-looking, on the black version. Somehow, the Wiimote jacket also looks cool in matte black, despite being a Wiimote jacket. The Classic Controller Pro, as well, looks like much more of an upgrade in shiny black plastic. Head past the break to see the blue Wii Sports controllers.

The Conduit came into this world with a spark. Sadly, it seems like most of that juice has already drained -- one last plug isn't gonna charge change that. Still, we thought we'd wish the Wii shooter well upon its release this week. It's been a feel-good story, after all, and we're hoping for a truly happy ending, so we can pitch the Hollywood script: It's like half sci-fi alien invasion, half uplifting indie drama. Now, if that ain't Oscar-worthy ...

DSi replacement cases available to careful people

Are you confident enough to crack open your DSi and expose its delicate internals to dust, fingerprints, and your cat? Or has your DSi already been cracked open by an unfortunate accident? In either case, you may be happy to learn that XCM has launched a line of DSi replacement cases that allow you to change the color of your system. The Eye Candy Shell comes in two existing DSi colors: black and white (the second of which may be of interest to North American DSi owners, since that color has yet to launch here), as well as chrome and the pictured crystal -- perfect for, say, showing off added LEDs and engraving a unicycling llama onto. For those of you willing to risk the integrity of your $170 console for a cosmetic change, XCM offers instructions and a list of online retailers carrying its products. DSi going on national tour

Like Forrest Gump, who ran from coast to coast to help a nation believe in love, the DSi is going on a national tour to help spread the gospel. At special events across the country, you'll be able to give the system a spin as part of the Nintendo DSi Mobile Tour (so much better than last year's fatally flawed DSi Stationary Tour).Look for the system at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisc. (June 25-29), the Rothbury Festival in Rothbury, Mich. (July 2-5), the All Good Music Festival in Masontown, W.Va. (July 9-12), and the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago (July 17-19). When more dates are slated, you'll be able to find them right here.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Modders gut an SNES, cram in a PC

The SNES you see above, ladies and gentlemen, is no SNES at all. It is, in fact, a fully functioning PC (an Acer Aspire One netbook, if you want to know). Built by quangDX and DuPPs of Asobitech.com, the AASNES1 packs all the connections you need, WiFi and even some cool USB extension cables that plug directly into the console's controller ports (its makers also modified a Super NES controller to work as a USB controller). The DVD-RW drive is located inside the Super Mario World cartridge and the modders even made the Super Nintendo logo on the back light up. It is, in summation, sweet.Check out a video of the AASNES1 after the break and head over to Asobitech for a step-by-step retelling of its creation.[Via Engadget]
