See the first Beatles: Rock Band trailer and Ludwig drums

click to Beatles-size
It debuted only a few hours ago at Microsoft's E3 press briefing, and now we have it right here for your viewing pleasure on the Joystiq stage, the first trailer for The Beatles: Rock Band. The trailer travels through the various eras of the Beatles' career, from the humble, black and white beginnings to the trippy, technicolor middle and even the famous performance atop Apple Records. Check it out after the break. We've also got the first shot of the game's Ludwig drums. We think it's safe to say they don't quite replicate the look of the real thing as well as the guitars. We're sure they play just fine though.

"What Dish Can You Make" mode lets you and Mama create a new recipe from two recipes you choose. "Let's Go Shopping" gives you a shopping list to buy, with confusing signs and irritating store employees trying to hinder you! Majesco hasn't officially announced a US release date for Cooking Mama 3, but we expect a fall or holiday release here as well. It's basically Majesco's biggest title of the year!Permalink | Email this | Comments

Konami announces Zephyr: Rise of the Elementals

A Konami game about weather elements ... Could it be?! No, it's not Kojima's new game. Konami has announced (during Microsoft's keynote, mind you) a new game for Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3: Zephyr: Rise of the Elementals. In it, you'll control a tornado that grows in a Katamari-esque path of destruction. With flying cows (pictured above), we can expect Zephyr won't take itself too seriously. The sandbox environments will range from farms to cities. Two players will be able to team up, each with their own tornadoes. This is the first game to come from Loose Cannon Studios, the new team made up of former Sucker Punch veterans. Expect impressions and an interview with the developers later this week.

Rumor: Retro Studios hints at news today

A Twitter account that claims to be from Retro Studios is teasing at something big. "We think you guys will be pleasantly surprised in just a few hours :)," the latest tweet (out of a grand total of two) reads. Of course, it could be a fake, but the possibility of Retro-related excitement is too wonderful to ignore.Despite the departure of Retro senior staff to form Armature Studio, Retro is still in operation, as a Nintendo-owned developer. Which means that if there is some Retro news (beyond Metroid Prime Trilogy, which we know is Nintendo-related), it'll probably be related to Nintendo, as well. Odd, then, that the pleasant surprise is supposed to happen today, when Nintendo's keynote doesn't happen until tomorrow.[Thanks, Mr. Khan!]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

The unfulfilled promises of E3s past

Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony are the three companies who collectively steer the flagship known as the U.S.S. E3 Keynote. We'll be liveblogging those (and a slew of others) over the next few days ... but what about the promises from the Big Three that have never appeared? They're all guilty of it, and we're calling out three big ones. We're willing to cut some slack to announced projects that are just taking awhile to (supposedly) appear, like Alan Wake and Peter Jackson's Halo project, but there are some things we just can't let slide. Promises were broken, people. Covenants were entered into. All that has been left behind in the wake of these smashed hopes are tears and dreams of what could have been. We'll be finding out what happened to those promises, and they have just a few hours left to make right on them.Read on.

Bplus brings faux-retro to WiiWare in Bit Boy

Bplus, developer of Plattchen - Twist 'n Paint, Niki -Rock 'n Ball, and the upcoming Vektor Tank, announced a new game that doesn't look so new. In fact, it looks delightfully old! Bit Boy!! follows a character called "Kubi" on an adventure that spans console generations, starting at 2600-style "4-bit" and progressively increasing in graphical complexity toward a modern 128-bit look. No real details about the gameplay have been given, other than that it uses either d-pad controls or a virtual Wiimote joystick, and that it features co-op play. But the concept alone has our attention!Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
