Even Mexico loves Mario parody skits

Anywhere you go in the world, you'll find people who love Mario. On the national Mexican television show, Hazme reír! y serás millonario, a group of three friends performed a Mario skit parodying / reenacting the original Super Mario Bros. It's a cute little routine with some hilarious moments, though it's not entirely accurate (fanboys will likely point out that the actual Mario does not kick enemies, he stomps on them ... and since when did Mario start dressing in Peach's colors, hmm?). Still, it's an impressive thing to do, especially since it was broadcast across an entire country.Interestingly, the crowd was pretty into it, rooting on the overalls-clad hero as he took down Bowser and saved the princess. Oh, wait, or was she in another castle? You'll have to watch the video clip after the break to find out! [Via Go Nintendo]

Virtua Tennis video makes us imagine the accidental human, property damage

Just so we're clear: the actors in the Virtua Tennis 2009 promo video (above) are likely not playing the game as they flail around like monkeys. However, this does not help suppress this equation for when the game releases:Hardcore tennis game + Wii MotionPlus = ???We imagine the answer is "backhand to the face" or "calls to the cops from all the noise" if you live in an apartment. Point is -- if this video were a representation of real life -- a six-pack of beers and three sets later, there'd be a physical altercation of some kind.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Teaser for new European Wii game 'Feels' like Ju-On

Rising Star Games sent out a video teasing the announcement of a new game at the upcoming London MCM Expo. The video features people holding Wiimotes in a dark room in front of a flickering TV, and then having the crap scared out of them -- an idea last used for Nintendo's hilarious Fatal Frame IV commercials.A brief image shown at the end of the trailer pretty definitively confirms the mystery title to be Kyoufu Taikan Ju-On (translated by Siliconera as "Feel Fear Ju-On"), the Wii horror title being made under the supervision of The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu. If Rising Star is picking this up for Europe, we should be able to expect a North American version from either XSEED, who works with Rising Star owner Marvelous on North American publishing, or Ignition, who publishes many AQ Interactive titles like Blue Dragon Plus and Boing! Docomodake DS. The video is available after the break.

Level-5's Layton-esque 'Sloane and MacHale's Mysterious Story' launches this week in Japan

Last year, in the midst of a pile of news from Level-5, the company quietly announced three DS puzzle games called the Atamania series. The first game in that series comes out on May 21 in Japan, and it looks like something worth getting excited about!Sloane and MacHale's Mysterious Story is, like Level-5's Professor Layton series, a collection of brain teasers wrapped up in an overarching mystery tale. The puzzle content in this game consists of lateral thinking puzzles from Paul Sloane and Des MacHale, presented as both animated scenarios (in a very cool silhouette style) and text. The puzzles seem to involve moving the text of the puzzle around with the stylus to make connections. Of course, Level-5 has yet to say anything about localization on Mysterious Story. We'd say it's an obvious choice given the success of Professor Layton, but we have yet to see any of the Layton sequels!Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

VC in Brief: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)

This week, the Virtual Console finally gets Majora's Mask for the N64. Some people think Ocarina of Time is better, and some people don't. And some people probably never played either, which is something that should be addressed with one's person therapist or physician.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Klonoa price slashed in UK, before release

Critical darling (and Wiimake) Klonoa has seen a UK price cut, prior to even being released to stores. The upcoming Nintendo Wii title is scheduled to release on May 22, but multiple retailers have cut the RRP nearly in half. Play.com UK is offering the PS1 remake for £14.99 while Amazon.co.uk is selling the title for £17.99. The suggested retail price is listed as £24.99.If the price slash continues after release, Klonoa could be one of the fastest cuts we've ever seen to to a Namco title. Unless you count the cut to our hearts when Star Wars characters were unceremoniously introduced into the world of Soul Calibur. Which we do.[Via DarkZero]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Madden NFL 10: Photos and videos

Madden NFL 10 for the Wii decided to go a much more cartoonish, "genre defining" route than its PS3/360 cousin in order to "stay true to its core audience." So, if you're looking for a more realistic footballing experience, you won't find it here. But if you're looking some something fine-tuned to the Wii's motion controls and aimed at the more casual player, look no further. And by casual we mean you can apparently tackle someone... without even touching them. There's a gallery full of new Wii images below, and two videos after the break. You have three more months to get ready for some football, which really seems like a lot of time. Don't strain yourself.
