Ragnarok Online DS coming to U.S. store shelves

XSEED's adorable (and highly successful) MMO Ragnarok Online has been wooing players since its Korean launch in 2001. It went on to expand its dominion with the release of Ragnarok Online DS last December in Japan, selling like solid-gold hotcakes. However, XSEED has no plans of ceasing the expansion of the game's enormous empire -- it recently announced in a press release that Ragnarok Online DS will be coming Stateside this winter. The game will be an action-RPG in the style of its PC predecessor, placing you in the shoes of a young adventurer in search of treasure. The mechanics of the core game are all there -- level progression, job and class selection, et cetera. Though the DS port will doff the massivelyness of its PC iteration, it will allow three other players to join you wirelessly or via Wi-Fi. We expect the game's adorability factor to also be appropriately off the charts.

Rumor: Tatsunoko vs Capcom coming to North America

The latest issue of Nintendo Power is reporting that Capcom's other crossover fighter, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, is coming Stateside. According to scans of the issue (via NeoGAF), Nintendo Power claims the fighter -- which Capcom has said (on numerous occasions) it was attempting to bring to North America -- is headed to American shores. For the uninformed, Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a fighting game for the Nintendo Wii -- currently available only in Japan -- that pits characters from Capcom's vast library versus characters from the Japanese animation studio, Tatsunoko Production. Joystiq has contacted Capcom for a comment.[Via GoNintendo. Thanks to everyone who sent this in]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Apogee and Deep Silver want your best Duke impressions

Tired of hearing about Duke Nukem these past couple of weeks? In all honesty, we're becoming a bit weary of writing about him, but we really couldn't pass this one up. Apparently the folks behind the Duke Nukem Trilogy are looking for a few good actors to do their best Duke impressions and maybe get a chance to "travel around the world representing Deep Silver and Apogee Software, LLC as the new 'official' Duke Nukem."We might not have informed you about the contest had the already existing contestant videos not convinced us otherwise. Women playing Duke? Yep. People who speak English only sometimes playing Duke? You bet! Hilarious? In an American Idol blooper, catching some serious wahjah kind of way. If you're so inclined to enter yourself (though we're wary to encourage that), all you have to do is capture your best Duke impressions on tape and head over to the contest website for entry instructions. We're going out on a limb and suggesting you don't impersonate what Duke does to bosses after taking them out in your entry. We'll leave it at that.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Behold and believe: Namco's Muscle March in motion

They should have sent a poet.Oh good -- we hadn't "pulled a Samuel Taylor Coleridge" when we wrote this morning's post about Namco's new WiiWare game, Muscle March. It wasn't a dream and it's even weirder in action than we could have imagined. Namco: please make a US release of this game happen, 'kay? Thanks.[Via Offworld]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Let's watch the Let's Tap 'Rhythm Tap' mode

We're getting dangerously close to the mid-June release of Let's Tap and ... wait, did we say "dangerously?" We obviously meant "thankfully," because how can a game that only requires minor movement of the hands be dangerous? Now that we think about it, there is the possibility of receiving an offhand smack, should your opponents in the Rhythm Tap mode -- seen in this latest video -- wish to throw you off your game.Surely though, with visuals this tranquil and the constant tap-tap-tapping of fingers on cardboard oh crap it's driving us mad already. On second thought, we are dangerously close to the game's release.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Star punch $10 off Punch-Out's retail price at Amazon

You know what's better than reliving your childhood by picking up Nintendo's new Punch-Out!!? Doing it for $10 less than the suggested retail price, that's what. If you agree, you'll be happy to know that Amazon is currently offering the game for a mere $40. Looking at it purely from a punch-to-dollar ratio, that's a tremendous value. If you've yet to pre-order the game, head over to Amazon and lay your money down. Unless, of course, you're Bald Bull, in which case you'll probably just charge it.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Leaked images from Factor 5's Wii 'flight' game

Click image for more almost-made gameness
With Factor 5 closing its doors in the US, it's uncertain whether the games that were in development there will be moved to its German studio, or if the titles will be scrapped entirely. Courtesy of Unseen64, we have some concept art from a flight game the company was working on for Wii. Supposedly, these are images created using the Wii version of Factor 5's Lair Engine, though that is unconfirmed. Based on the images, however, we can glean that the game would have had players visiting several different parts of the world, as there's a few images striking an amazing resemblance to Big Ben. We've put in word to Factor 5 for comment, but we're hoping the employees have already set sail toward a brighter future, much like the Crimson Permanent Assurance. Sadly, real life isn't as fun ...

Excitebots has slow sales start in April

Someone call Benjamin Jahveri, Excitebots is in rough shape. During the 10 days the racer was available in April, it managed to move just 13,000 copies, according to the NPD. To give some perspective, more mature Wii titles MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill were able to move 66,000 and 45,000 units respectively in their first 20 days. This is purely just our observation, but did the hype machine seem a little weak for Excitebots? We can't recall seeing much in the way of marketing for the game, but honestly ... we don't get out much.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

WeirdWare: Namco's new Wii game features muscles, marching, madness

We figured you wouldn't be needing your mind over the weekend so we've decided to blow it. Or, rather, Namco Bandai will with its new WiiWare game Muscle March. C'mon -- just look at that screenshot. Muscle-bound humans, flexing robots, random zoo animals on the HUD ... wait, there has to be a catch. Oh yeah: it's Japan-only, but hopefully not forever. The house of Katamari and Noby Noby Boy wants players to feel the burn as they stomp down city streets, through Meiji-era Japan and (naturally) the distant future with one goal in mind: catching the thief that's made off with their protein supplement. Using the Wiimote and Nunchuk, players must strike poses that match the shapes of holes the escaping crook has left while smashing through walls. And he needs the supplement for what, exactly?Namco, if you're reading this, we're pretty sure enough of us would download Muscle March to justify the likely limited localization cost. Oh, and if you do bring it over, you've totally got to license Kool-Aid Man. Smelling the potential? Oh yeah.

THQ getting physical with MX vs. ATV Reflex

A racing redefinition with revolutionary rhythm racing physics. That alliterative nightmare was brought to you by MX vs. ATV Reflex, THQ's newest racer from Rainbow Studios and just the latest to make us swallow our tongues. Set to peel off the starting blocks this holiday season, the game is currently in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP and DS.The series' fourth entry since 2005's MX vs. ATV Unleashed, Reflex will boast real-time terrain deformation and a new "dual-stick" control scheme that "separates man from machine." Additionally, THQ notes that the off-road sequel will introduce a new Rhythm Racing physics engine. But don't be fooled like we were. Sadly, the tech is named for getting players into the "rhythm of a race" rather than any sort of mid-race musical throw down.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
