PETA attacks Take-Two over Ringling Bros. on Wii

Take-Two's upcoming Ringling Bros. game for Wii and DS looks to recreate all of the stuff you'd see at a real-life circus show. And that's why PETA hates it so much. In a blog post, PETA sends out a call to arms, asking folks to send Ben Feder, Take-Two's CEO, an email asking him to cease and desist development on the game. In fact, PETA already did most of the work for you by filling out the subject line and body of your potential email with things we're sure you'd want to say to the CEO of a multi-million dollar company.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Sands, and giant teddy bears, of Destruction

Sega's been quiet about Sands of Destruction since the December announcement of a US release for the world-ending game. Today, it released a new trailer for the RPG which, rarely for the genre, is all gameplay. Slightly fuzzy, zoomed out gameplay, but all gameplay. New screens have also been add to the gallery. We might not be incredibly enthused about the voice acting, but the combination of 16-bit style 2D role-playing and, uh, giant animate teddy bears flinging smaller animate teddy bears at monsters means Sands of Destruction is staying on our radar. It's still, unfortunately, a distant blip -- Sega currently has the game scheduled for a winter 2010 release.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Gobs of Contra ReBirth footage surfaces, US release still up in the air

Earlier this week, Contra ReBirth arrived on the Japanese WiiWare channel, and wouldn't you know it, tons of footage has been loosed into the wild (opening intro/first level after the break). While we'd love to get our hands on the title, we're not quite sure when it's landing on US shores. Last year, however, Konami set a precedent with Gradius ReBirth (released this year in the US) that we're likely to see repeated with Contra. So we asked Nintendo of America what it had to say about the title and a representative told us, "A US release date has not been confirmed." He did, however, remind us that "A US release hasn't been confirmed either." While we'd be shocked if it never showed up over here, if anything, it's going to take quite a while. After all, it took nearly six months for Gradius ReBirth to hit the US WiiWare channel. Unfortunately, as of publishing, a Konami rep has yet to return our call.

Might and Magic Clash of Heroes coming to DS August 2009

Oh Might and Magic brand, how we've missed you! We really hoped that this wouldn't be the swan song for your venerable RPG series and Ubisoft didn't disappoint. The company has just announced Might and Magic Clash of Heroes, coming to DS this August. Now, we'll admit that we weren't necessarily hoping for a puzzle RPG developed by Capybara Games (you know, of Critter Crunch fame?). But at least there's two-player peer-versus-peer mode, so that's something, right?

Prepare for pain with this Bit.Trip: Core trailer

After watching the trailer for Bit.Trip: Core we've embedded after the break, we're panicking well in advance of actually playing the game. Beat only had pixels flying at us from one direction, and we were scared enough when we learned that Core would up that to four. But this trailer shows that dots approach the middle of the screen from eight directions. The more precise digital control scheme should make the gameplay a bit easier to process, but we still perceive a lot of psychedelic, entranced failure in our future. And we can't wait! Those creepy stretched-out Commander Video characters didn't help make us feel any more confident about the game, either.

Radical job listings might hint at Wii Prototype port

We're doing our best not to let our imaginations run away with this, so here are the facts: As superannuation recently noticed, Radical Entertainment is looking for a Wii designer with an "affinity for 3rd Person 'Open-World' Camera Design/Functionality" and a Wii programmer to "take game features from concept to execution for a port of a 360/PS3 game to the Wii."Now, we'd like to think that this is an indication that Radical's bringing upcoming open-world action game, Prototype, to the Wii. Considering the company's track record, however, there's every chance that this is for another Crash game. Less depressingly, the listing could also be recruiting for an unconfirmed Spider-Man game. Not as juicy as Prototype, but hey, at least it's not Crash. What are you hoping for?Source -- Senior Wii Programmer (Systems & Rendering)Source -- Wii Gameplay DesignerPermalink | Email this | Comments

OMG! Activision and Nickelodeon developing a game based on iCarly

How to fully enjoy this post:1. Grab the nearest preteen girl. (If you're not in your home, please ask permission before grabbing random preteens.)2. Insert earplugs.3. Tell the aforementioned girl that Activision is making a video game for Wii and DS with Nickelodeon based on the network's iCarly, and that it will allow her to make her own episodes of the show through the magic of minigames. 4. Remove earphones.5. Repair squeal-shattered windows, champagne flutes.6. Look totally cool to said preteen for at least 15 minutes.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
