MadWorld, HotD: Overkill now $30 on Amazon

Sega's MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill are currently being sold at $20 off at Amazon. It doesn't appear to be a flat-out price drop for the two games, which have sold ... well, that's up for interpretation. We've also noticed that MadWorld is currently $30 in-store at GameStop.Remember: Purchasing these titles will get more M-rated games on Wii and further research into splicing wings on pigs.Source - Amazon-MadWorld Price Drop [GoNintendo]Source - MadWorld, Overkill $30 on Amazon [CAG]Permalink | Email this | Comments

Capcom confirms Tatsunoko vs. Capcom localization

That totally convincing-looking Nintendo Power scan did not lie! Capcom just admitted, via its Twitter account, that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is, in fact, being localized for a North American release. The terse (it is Twitter, after all) announcement: "cat is officially out of the bag on Capcom Mystery Game #1," followed by a link to the scan. The announcement was also made on the Capcom Unity blog. That means there's one more "Mystery Game" left in Capcom's E3 lineup. Honestly, it could just be a second demo station for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and we would be perfectly happy. Maybe we shouldn't admit that.[Image via Japanese Tatsunoko vs. Capcom website]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Wii Sports Resort features ... golf and table tennis?

Nintendo of Japan's new commercials for the Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort use some very slick high-speed camera footage to illustrate the realistic motions used in, among other things, table tennis and golf. New in-game footage found in the commercial reveals that two of Resort's new minigames will be retreads of things seen in previous titles -- table tennis was covered in Wii Play, and golf, of course, appeared in the original Wii Sports. Nintendo must be very confident that MotionPlus improves these games significantly. We still don't know how many games will be included in Resort, but if two of them are going to be encore presentations, there had better be a lot of games. We totally understand Nintendo wanting to take a second crack at table tennis, we must admit, because Wii Play's version is not where it's at.[Via N-Europe]

Joystiq Review: Punch-Out!! (Wii)

It's been over 10 years since the last game in the Punch-Out!! series -- Super Punch-Out!! on the SNES -- was released with a new visual style, a host of new boxers, and some new moves in Little Mac's repertoire. Nintendo has finally provided us with another installment in the series, now with motion-based controls, Balance Board support, and multiplayer. While it ultimately feels like the same game we've played before, it's hard to peg that as a bad thing.[Note: If you don't feel like battling a whole bunch of text, feel free to enjoy our video synopsis of Punch-Out!! by using your mouse bicep to punch-click this handy link.]

GTA: Chinatown Wars jacks more wallets, sells 74K in April

In its first month of release, GTA: Chinatown Wars managed to only sell 89,000 copies in the US, according to the NPD. Now that the figures for April have come in, Gamasutra reports the game has managed to sell another 74,000 copies. Mind you, we're no mathematicians (well, not all of us), but by our calculations, that means GTA: Chinatown Wars has managed to sell a total of 163,000 copies in the US so far, which is a lot lower than what most analysts predicted the game would sell in its first month. We guess that South Park bump didn't do the game much good ...Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Square Enix announces Dragon Quest Wars for DSiWare

Square Enix has revealed the Dragon Quest Wars whose title was trademarked last month. Anyone expecting some kind of MMO tactics game will be disappointed, because while the new game does feature online play, it's nothing quite so grandiose. In fact, it's a 500-point DSiWare download.Dragon Quest Wars is an online-capable board game for up to four players. Each player creates a team of four classic Dragon Quest monsters and participates in "simple battles" against up to three other AI or player teams. The small game has some decent strategy game cred: it's being developed by Intelligent Systems, the Nintendo second party responsible for both the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series. Dragon Quest Wars will be out in Japan this June.[Via 1UP]Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Guitar Hero 5 getting Music Studio tweaks, Band Moments

We've got just a few more notes to add to your compendium of Guitar Hero 5 knowledge this morning. First, we learned today that the game will add Band Moments, which rewards the band for hitting certain strings of notes together. (Note, both guitarists must rub their shoulder blades together with totally gnarly looks on their faces to activate.) These will be placed in songs from the game's 85 different artists, more than 25 of which have never appeared in a video game before, we're told. Also, the GHMusic Studio will be getting a redesign, though no further details are offered. We always thought the studio was a cool idea, but we didn't play with it much in World Tour. Did any of you create any masterpieces with it? What would you like to see changed?

Bethesda announcing a 'really big Wii game this year'

According to a GamesIndustry.biz interview with Bethesda's Sean Brennan, the company is finally going to pay some real attention to the Wii. "We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year," Brennan said. "We've got a couple of other things in the pipeline, and it's a format we're really looking at with the right approach." The company has published two Wii games before: Star Trek: Conquest and AMF Bowling World Lanes, both offhandedly mentioned as "minor products."Brennan then allayed our justified fear that Bethesda would go for the easy money: "We're not going to establish a new range and call it 'My Girly Game Range' or whatever these other companies are doing, it's so me-too and boring." He also claims that Bethesda "[doesn't] like the casual games area as such." Which means that this upcoming Bethesda product will probably be a traditionally Bethesda-like game, right?Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
