Europe gets Darkside Chronicles Zapper bundle Nov. 27, no zombie T-shirt

Dear European Readers, we're pleased to inform you that you'll be getting Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles on November 27. Heck, you're even getting a special bundle that includes the game and a Wii Zapper. We regret to inform you, however, that you won't be getting a Resident Evil zombie face T-shirt that can double as a Halloween (you have that there, right?) costume, in addition to being incredibly awesome. If you're reading this in the US, don't be jealous of our overseas friends' plastic, gun-like shell. We have The Shirt. We can also buy the Resident Evil Shot Blaster, which eats Zappers for breakfast. (But is, unluckily for it, one step down the food chain from the Shark Gun.)[Via GoNintendo]

Level-5 and Studio Ghibli's Another World delayed until another year

Ni no Kuni (The Another World), the Level-5/Studio Ghibli RPG for DS that includes the huge spellbook, will no longer be considered Level-5's 10th anniversary game -- because it won't be out in 2009. The game has been bumped to spring 2010. Wii Sports Resort lands in one million US homes

Nintendo's tropical minigame getaway, Wii Sports Resort, has managed to entice one million gamers in the US, the publisher has announced. Debuting July 26, it didn't take the game long to reach that number (it sold 508,000 in July), and we're sure that we'll be writing another post like this one in a month or so when the game reaches two million in sales. Anyone taking bets?Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Furry Legends also rolling onto DSiWare

Gamelion has announced that its upcoming Furry Legends will no longer be confined to WiiWare, with Furry Legends: Beginnings also headed to DSiWare. The game will serve as a prequel to Furry Legends and is set to feature hand-drawn graphics, plenty of puzzles, new enemies and, well, little rolling balls of fur.It certainly looks cute, but we still say the title is a little misleading.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Astro Boy voice acting gets real with Kristen Bell

You'll remember Kristen Bell from her less-than-endearing performance as Lucy in Assassin's Creed a couple years ago (and you should remember her from TV's Veronica Mars). Bell's back in the sound booth to record another game voice, playing Cora in Astro Boy, the upcoming movie-based adaptation. According to the video interview above, her character is a "17-year-old, edgy girl," immediately demonstrated by her declaration, "Sorry, we don't need any newbies." Good to know! (We were worried.)Permalink | Email this | Comments

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 dated, detailed

Other than a recent countdown offered by THQ, we haven't heard much about the publisher's next effort in its longtime wrestling franchise, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010. Today though, THQ announced an October 20 release date for the game, along with a clear marketing push towards online play.Nelo Lucich, a senior VP at licensor JAKKS Pacific, leads the charge, saying, "The vast array of creative and online options allow players the ability to create their own unique Superstars, right down to their tattoos and customized ring gear." He goes on to tout the game's "Community Creations interface" and other options for online play, remaining confident. And maybe he should be, considering the game's October release now has a much better chance of standing out in a delay-riddled holiday season than ever before.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Real people play Professor Layton

Nintendo has made a bold move with Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. Instead of having plastic or cardboard (see: fake) people promote the game, Nintendo has put it into the hands of real flesh-and-blood individuals. Will it pay off for the company to promote the game via the everyman, or should it have stuck with its usual people who have too much money to play games?Hit the jump for this week's content on the Nintendo Channel.

Review: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

After more than a year, Nintendo has deigned to grant the second Professor Layton game to a DS audience clamoring for gentlemanly puzzle adventure. Is Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box worth the wait? Unless, for some reason, you were expecting a dramatic reinvention of the gameplay, yes. To be clear, this is not the Zelda II of the Professor Layton franchise. It features the same combination of woodgrained old-world feel and Osamu Tezuka-style character designs, a similarly puzzle-minded citizenry, and a storyline intriguing enough that, somehow, the player manages to be drawn into a world that ostensibly exists only as a puzzle delivery system. There was absolutely no reason to change the formula after the magical Curious Village, and developer Level-5 knew it. The Layton series is proof that almost any activity can be grafted into a video game to make an engaging experience. These games do for brain teasers what RPGs have done for menus.

Wii Sports Resort barely bests Wolfenstein in the UK

We're not sure what's more impressive: That a cricket game was actually outselling Wii Sports Resort for two weeks in the UK, or that Nintendo's latest minigame melange only outsold Wolfenstein by 2,000 copies for the week of August 16 to 22. That's what the latest numbers and report from Chart Track show, placing the id Software / Raven shooter at the top of the PS3, 360 and PC charts for its first week on sale. We'll have to wait for NPD's numbers to see how the FPS fared on this side of the pond, but it's pretty obvious that -- the world over -- everybody loves killing some Nazis. Take a peek after the break to see what else the Brits have been buying up lately.Source -- Chart Trak, week ending 8/22Source -- Wii Sports Resort keeps Wolfenstein at bay
