Wii Sports Resort video: watch Reggie trash talk

Parachuting, archery, and shooting hoops. Or: three things you'll never find yourself doing with Reggie Fils-Aime on a tropical island. Unless your Mii happens to encounter his Mii in Wii Sports Resort. Even if that magical moment comes to pass, you won't be able to hurl trash talk back at him, since the Wii and chat go together like cats and water. Instead, enjoy the above video and stick your own trash talk comments down below.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nintendo releasing black Wii, red DSi this summer

Our bingo card was off by just a couple of days. Nintendo didn't bother to introduce a new color for the Wii system during its E3 press conference ... or anywhere else in North America, for that matter. Japan got its own mini-megaton tonight in the form of a new black Wii system, which will release in Japan on August 1. In addition, accessories including the Wiimote, Classic Controller, and Classic Controller Pro, will also be released in black to coordinate with the new system and extract money from people who already have Wiis.In addition, Nintendo announced that a red DSi system will launch in the region on July 11. No announcements have been made for any other region.[Via Kotaku]

Impressions: The Grinder (Wii)

The Grinder is the first of the two new Wii projects from High Voltage that were revealed just prior to E3, and we got to check it out at the company's booth. It's a game that takes the cheesy grindhouse pictures of old and converts them into an FPS experience. The result is a game full of frenetic monsters and tension.

Hands-on: The Beatles: Rock Band

It'd be a lie to say what we played of The Beatles: Rock Band was much more than the game you already know (and maybe love): Rock Band 2. We should also note, for full disclosure and all that good stuff, that we love The Beatles with all our hearts. And so, rather than tell you about the little of the game we could play (10 songs from the game and no campaign mode whatsoever), we're going to talk about the game's instruments -- the one notable change from previous Rock Band titles. We sat down with the game's rendition of Ringo Starr's Ludwig drums and, erm, stood up with Paul McCartney's Hoffner bass for three different songs ("Taxman," "Here Comes the Sun," and "I Am the Walrus"). Here's the news: the drums are nearly identical to the drums that shipped with Rock Band 2, aside from a nylon screen, faking the outside of a bass drum.

The Nintendo E3 2009 booth in pictures

Outfitted with dozens of kiosks for nearly every title coming up from the Japanese powerhouse, the Nintendo booth at E3 was teeming with folks who wanted nothing more than to ... well, the folks mostly just wanted Wii Sports Resort frisbees and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks styluses. Rather than just stand around like a bunch of loafers, we snagged our handy point 'n shoot for a quick booth tour in pictures.

Wii's new Dance Dance Revolution is Balance Board-based, fitness-focused

It's with no amount of surprise whatsoever that we tell you Konami is making a new Dance Dance Revolution, or what it's for Wii. Neither is the fact that it will feature licensed pop/rock/dance songs and videos. What is surprising: the game will support the Wii Balance Board and features a number of new elements focused on personal fitness. It's not about stomping on the right arrows anymore; hip-swaying and other full body movements -- still guided by on-screen arrows -- are the revolution.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Konami announces Pop'n Music for Wii, with no Pop'n Music controller

A trademark gave us a hint at a North American release for Konami's arcade music game, Pop'n Music, so we sort of knew it was coming. We assumed that it would be, you know, Pop'n Music, with the nine-button interface that is pretty much the whole point of the thing."Easy and fun to play," according to the game's feature list. "Basic controls move the Nunchuk and Wii Mote up, down, left and right." In which case, it's just a cutesy music game. Why does Konami do this stuff to its music games every E3?This so-called Pop'n Music will be out this fall.
